Job Overview
As a Package Handler at FedEx Canada, you will be responsible for the physical loading, unloading, and manual sorting of packages. This includes lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and placing packages in a safe and efficient manner.

Package Handlers may rotate between various roles such as loader, unloader, palletizer, scanner, and more. Specialized training is required for certain roles, including Parcel Handler Trainer and Air Parcel Handler.

Key Responsibilities

• Use hand-surface methods to handle packages
• Load and unload packages onto/from delivery vehicles, trailers, and pallets
• Operate conveyor systems, loading racks, and carts
• Lift, carry, push, and pull packages repetitively for 3 to 5 hours
• Scan packages and verify information for sorting
• Perform other assigned duties related to package handling
• Provide training to other Package Handlers as a Parcel Handler Trainer
• Conduct parcel inspections to ensure no restricted parcels are loaded into air containers

Essential Functions for Specialized Roles
Parcel Handler Trainer
Train new Package Handlers in loading, unloading, palletizing, and scanning techniques
Provide feedback on proper handling techniques and ensure safety standards are followed
Assist in implementing new parcel handling procedures

Air Parcel Handler
Scan and inspect packages for hazardous materials
Load packages into air transport devices
Manage restricted air parcels and generate return notifications

Education and Experience

• Education: No minimum education required
• Experience: No experience required, though specialized roles may prefer 6 months of experience at FedEx Express Corporation

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and work instructions
• Ability to discern numbers and sort packages accordingly
• Proficiency with basic tools such as handheld scanners and dock carts
