Responsibilities:
- Plan or adjust routes using GPS or other navigation devices to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy to ensure timely and safe delivery of goods
- Load and unload goods in a safe and efficient manner
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks for the transportation of goods and materials
- Inspect vehicle conditions, including tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other critical equipment
- Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs as needed
- Conduct preventive maintenance on vehicles to ensure safe operation
- Communicate with central dispatch, receiving and relaying important information
- Record cargo details, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
