Job Duties of a Health Care Aide

• Provide direct care to residents based on individualized care plans.
• Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
• Support mobility and ambulation, including transferring and positioning residents.
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ conditions to the Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered
• Administer medications as directed and ensure proper documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents.
• Assist with meal preparation and therapeutic diets.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
• Utilize proper infection control practices.
• Document care activities accurately in the resident’s record.

Requirements

• Education: College/CEGEP
• Experience: Will train (previous experience is an asset).
• Certificates and Licenses:
  • CPR Certificate
  • Health Care Aide Certificate

Key Qualifications and Skills

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) or equivalent Health Care Aide certificate/experience acceptable to the employer.
• Knowledge and experience in elderly care (preferred).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable, organized, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with occupational health and safety standards.
• Knowledge of computer software is an asset.
