Work Site Environment

Key Responsibilities
Planting and Cultivation:
• Plant vegetable crops according to seasonal schedules
• Cultivate and maintain crops throughout growing season
• Irrigate crops to ensure proper growth and development
• Monitor crop health and growth progress
• Apply mulch and soil amendments as directed
• Weed fields manually and mechanically
• Thin plants to optimal spacing for best yields
• Perform crop maintenance tasks as assigned
Harvesting Operations:
• Hand harvest vegetables at peak ripeness
• Pick crops carefully to prevent damage
• Work efficiently to meet daily harvesting targets
• Harvest crops in timely manner to maximize quality
• Handle produce gently to maintain market quality
• Load harvested vegetables onto transport equipment
• Work quickly during optimal harvesting windows
• Adapt to varying harvest schedules based on weather and crop readiness
Quality Control and Grading:
• Examine products for quality and readiness for market
• Grade vegetables and fruits according to size, shape, color, and volume
• Sort produce into different quality grades to maximize market value
• Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots
• Identify and remove damaged or diseased vegetables
• Ensure only premium quality produce proceeds to market
• Use color discrimination skills for proper grading
• Maintain consistent grading standards
Crop Processing:
• Clean crops removing dirt, debris, and damaged portions
• Prepare vegetables for storage or market
• Package produce according to specifications
• Sort and organize harvested crops
• Process vegetables for different market destinations
• Handle produce in cold storage facilities
• Maintain cleanliness of processing areas
General Farm Duties:
• Perform various agricultural tasks as assigned
• Assist with farm maintenance and equipment care
• Keep work areas clean and organized
• Load and unload supplies and equipment
• Support other farm operations as needed
• Participate in farm cleanup and end-of-season activities
• Follow all farm protocols and safety procedures
