Job Overview
Argcon Group Inc. is seeking skilled, detail-oriented Plasterers to join our growing construction and finishing team in Scarborough, serving residential and commercial projects across the Greater Toronto Area. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering smooth, durable, and visually impressive interior and exterior finishes, including plaster, stucco, textures, and decorative work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on plastering experience who takes pride in craftsmanship, wants stable full-time work at a top industry wage, and is eager to work on a variety of projects with a reputable contractor.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience as a Plasterer, Stucco Worker, or similar finishing trade
  • Experience in residential and/or commercial construction is an asset
  • Formal apprenticeship or trade certification in plastering is an advantage but not required

Work Setting

  • Construction job sites across Scarborough and the Greater Toronto Area
  • Interior and exterior work on residential, commercial, and renovation projects
  • Work at heights on scaffolding, ladders, and lifts as required
  • Indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Clean and prepare interior and exterior surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, or otherwise removing old finishes, loose materials, and debris
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster to walls and ceilings using hand tools such as trowels, floats, and hawks to achieve specified thickness and finish
  • Mix plaster ingredients (gypsum, cement, lime, aggregates, additives) to the desired consistency according to product specifications and site conditions
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces by monitoring drying conditions, applying curing techniques, and protecting surfaces from damage while setting
  • Finish corners and angles with clean, straight lines and create decorative designs or textures in finish coats when required
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, trims, and other architectural details according to design plans and measurements
  • Spray acoustic or textured materials over walls and ceilings using spray equipment to achieve specified finishes and sound-dampening effects
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over building exteriors to form weatherproof, visually appealing surfaces, including base coats and finish coats
  • Repair and patch existing plaster and stucco surfaces, blending new work seamlessly with existing finishes
  • Protect adjacent surfaces (windows, floors, fixtures) using masking and coverings before starting work
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials, methods, and finishes required
  • Select and use the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for each job, ensuring proper cleaning and maintenance after use
  • Follow safety procedures when working at heights, around other trades, and with tools and materials
  • Work efficiently to meet project deadlines without compromising on quality

Additional Responsibilities (as Needed)

  • Assist in estimating material quantities for assigned tasks when requested by supervisors
  • Communicate with site supervisors, general contractors, and other trades to coordinate work sequences
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including safe handling and storage of materials

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Physically demanding role requiring strength, balance, and stamina
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of materials (bags of plaster, buckets, tools) up to approximately 23–25 kg (50–55 lbs)
  • Extended periods of standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching overhead
  • Repetitive arm and hand movements while trowelling, smoothing, and sanding surfaces
  • Working at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms
  • Exposure to dust, powders, and construction noise (appropriate PPE required and provided as per company policy)
  • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities based on project needs
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a crew with minimal direct supervision once tasks are assigned

Tools and Equipment (Typical)

  • Trowels, floats, hawks, and plastering hand tools
  • Mixers, buckets, and measuring tools for mixing plaster and stucco
  • Spray guns and related equipment for texture and stucco application
  • Sanding tools and surface preparation equipment
  • Scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment (used in accordance with safety regulations)

Additional Requirements / Assets

  • Basic knowledge of building codes and industry standards related to plaster and stucco finishes is an asset
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation to various job sites are strong assets
  • Safety certifications such as Working at Heights, WHMIS, and basic construction safety training are preferred or willingness to obtain
