Job Overview
LBE Contracting Inc. is hiring a Carpenter to support construction, renovation, and repair projects in North York and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for a motivated carpenter with foundational experience who can work safely at heights, follow drawings and building codes, and deliver accurate framing and finishing work. You will measure and assemble materials, build structural components such as floors, walls, and roof systems, install doors and windows, and help estimate materials and costs. The successful candidate will also support leadership on site by supervising 1–2 workers and instructing apprentices when required. Education

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Or equivalent experience

Experience

• 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant carpentry experience in construction, renovation, or maintenance/repair

Work Setting

• Construction sites and renovation environments
• Work may include residential, commercial, or institutional sites depending on contracts and schedules

Work Site Environment

• At heights
• Outdoors
• Noisy and dusty conditions typical of construction sites

Equipment and Machinery Experience

• Hand tools

Supervision

• Supervise 1 to 2 people (as assigned)
• Instruct apprentices and junior workers on tasks and safe work practices

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and confirm dimensions
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools and proper layout methods
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware with attention to finish quality
• Estimate costs and materials for assigned tasks, supporting efficient planning and ordering
• Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments as required
• Supervise other workers when assigned, ensuring quality, productivity, and safe tool use
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow site safety rules and PPE requirements
• Communicate progress, material needs, and issues clearly to supervisors and team members

• Physically demanding work including lifting/carrying materials and working in varied positions
• Handling heavy loads
• Tight deadlines and time-sensitive project work
• Ability to work safely at heights and in changing site conditions

Own Tools/Equipment

• Steel-toed safety boots required

Additional Assets (Preferred)

• Valid driver’s license (asset, depending on job site location)
• Experience with both framing and finishing carpentry (asset)
• Familiarity with estimating materials and basic take-offs (asset)
