Job Overview
AireoneKW Heating & Cooling is hiring a Gas Technician to support installation, servicing, and emergency response for gas heating units and gas appliances. This role is ideal for a safety-focused technician who can work independently in the field, communicate professionally with clients, and handle urgent gas escape calls with calm decision-making. You will install and service gas heating units, gas lines, meters and regulators, test and adjust controls, check piping connections for leaks, and ensure every job meets applicable standards and safety requirements. You will also support apprentices through instruction and on-the-job guidance. Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant gas fitting/HVAC experience (installation, service, troubleshooting, or field technician work)

Credentials (Required)

  • Gas Fitter Certificate – Level 2 or B

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Attend to gas escape calls and respond safely and professionally according to emergency procedures
  • Study drawings and specifications to determine installation layout and required materials
  • Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment
  • Install gas heating units and their components, ensuring correct setup and commissioning
  • Service gas heating units and their components, including inspections, cleaning, and adjustments
  • Repair and service gas appliances and related equipment to restore safe operation
  • Install and maintain meters, regulators, and gas lines between gas unit and gas meter
  • Test and adjust control mechanisms; verify proper operation and performance
  • Check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices and correct issues promptly
  • Test and replace defective equipment or components as required
  • Estimate costs and materials for service calls and installation work; communicate clearly with supervisors/clients as needed
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems for documentation, layouts, or job records as required
  • Advise clients regarding standards, safety features, and maintenance of gas units and systems
  • Instruct apprentices and support skill development through safe, structured guidance
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and follow company and regulatory reporting requirements

Specialization or Experience (Asset)

  • Specialized environmental skills and knowledge (asset), including awareness of efficiency, emissions considerations, and best practices that reduce waste and support responsible operation

Transportation / Travel Information

  • Ability to travel to customer sites within the service area and respond to scheduled and emergency calls

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, especially during peak heating season and emergency calls
  • Physically demanding work including lifting/carrying equipment and working in mechanical rooms, basements, and outdoor conditions
  • Handling heavy loads
  • Standing for extended periods; frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Strong attention to detail required for leak testing, control adjustments, and safety compliance
