The program, managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), will accept a maximum of 1,010 applications, effective immediately. However, applications will close once the cap is reached or by May 14, 2025, when the program officially concludes.

What is the Agri-Food Pilot?

Launched in 2020, the Agri-Food Pilot is designed to address labor shortages in Canada’s agricultural and food processing sectors by offering eligible workers the chance to secure permanent residency. To date, over 4,500 agri-food workers and their families have successfully relocated to Canada through this initiative.

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to non-seasonal workers employed in specific agricultural and food industries, including:

  • Meat Product Manufacturing
  • Greenhouse, Nursery, and Floriculture Production (including mushrooms)
  • Animal Production (excluding aquaculture)

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Agri-Food Pilot, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Valid Job Offer
    • A full-time, non-seasonal employment offer from an eligible Canadian employer is mandatory.
  2. Work Experience and Education
    • A minimum of one year of full-time, non-seasonal work experience in an eligible occupation within the past three years.
    • At least a high school diploma or its equivalent as verified by a Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
  3. Language Proficiency
    • Meet the minimum language requirements in English or French (CLB/NCLC Level 4).
  4. Settlement Funds
    • Proof of adequate funds to support yourself and your family after relocating to Canada (unless already working in Canada).
