• 7 months to less than 1 year of childcare experience required
• Previous experience as nanny, babysitter, or child caregiver preferred
• Experience in private home childcare settings beneficial
• Demonstrated ability to care for children responsibly and lovingly
• References from previous childcare positions essential
Required Credentials and Certifications
• Valid First Aid Certificate (mandatory and must be current)
• CPR certification strongly preferred
• Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening required
• Medical examination required to ensure fitness for childcare duties
• Pediatric First Aid training considered an asset
• Food safety certification beneficial
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Childcare:
• Supervise and provide attentive, loving care for children throughout the day
• Ensure children’s safety, well-being, and happiness at all times
• Tend to emotional well-being of children with empathy and understanding
• Monitor children’s health and respond appropriately to illness or injury
• Provide age-appropriate guidance and support
• Create nurturing, positive atmosphere that promotes healthy development

Educational and Developmental Support:
• Help children with homework and school assignments
• Instruct children in personal hygiene and self-care skills

• Read to children and promote literacy and language development

• Teach children respect, responsibility, and good manners

• Communicate with parents about behavioral concerns and progress

Nutrition and Meal Services:
• Prepare and serve nutritious, well-balanced meals for children
• Cook healthy snacks and meals according to dietary preferences and restrictions
• Plan age-appropriate menus that children enjoy
• Accommodate any food allergies or special dietary needs
• Teach children healthy eating habits
• Maintain clean kitchen and dining areas
• Shop for food and household supplies as needed
Transportation and Scheduling:
• Take children to and from school reliably and punctually
• Transport children to appointments, activities, and playdates
• Accompany children on outings to parks, libraries, and recreational facilities
• Ensure safe transportation at all times
• Coordinate schedules and manage time effectively
• Plan routes and timing to accommodate multiple activities
Household Management:
• Assume full responsibility for household operations in absence of parents
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to childcare
• Wash, iron, and press clothing and household linens
• Maintain organized, tidy children’s rooms and play areas
• Shop for food and household supplies efficiently
• Keep home environment clean, safe, and welcoming
• Manage household tasks while supervising children
Record Keeping and Communication:
• Keep accurate records of daily activities and children’s routines
• Document health information, medications, and any incidents
• Maintain records of meals, naps, and developmental milestones
• Communicate regularly with parents about children’s day
• Report any concerns, achievements, or important observations
• Provide detailed updates on children’s well-being and progress
Safety and Home Environment:
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home at all times
• Identify and address potential hazards proactively
• Ensure age-appropriate safety measures are in place
• Follow emergency procedures and protocols
• Administer first aid when necessary
• Keep first aid supplies stocked and accessible
• Maintain clean, hygienic environment to prevent illness
