Job Overview
SUNLIFE ELECTRICAL LTD is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrician to join our team in Waverley, Nova Scotia. You will work on a variety of projects at different locations, performing installations, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical systems. Experience

• 1 to less than 7 months of relevant experience as an electrician or electrical apprentice
• Additional apprenticeship experience is an asset

Work Site Environment

• Outdoors and indoors depending on project
• Exposure to varying weather conditions on exterior work
• Work at heights, in crawlspaces, and in partially finished construction environments may be required

Work Setting

• Various locations (residential, commercial, and light industrial sites)
• Travel between job sites in and around Waverley and the greater Nova Scotia region

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Demonstrate professionalism in customer service, including clear communication, respect for property, and clean work habits
• Install underground wiring and cables according to plans, codes, and safety standards
• Install surface-mounted and overhead cables, conduits, and raceways
• Connect power to audio, visual, and other electrical equipment as per specifications
• Troubleshoot and isolate electrical faults in wiring, panels, devices, and equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and routing of electrical systems
• Conduct preventive maintenance programs, including inspection, testing, and servicing of electrical systems and components
• Commission systems and components, verifying proper operation and compliance with design and code requirements
• Estimate costs and materials for projects or service calls, providing clear information for quotations and planning
• Instruct apprentices on safe work methods, installation techniques, and troubleshooting practices
• Supervise other workers on site as required, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to standard
• Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, regulations, and company policies
• Complete basic documentation such as job reports, material lists, and service records accurately and on time
• Use appropriate tools, test instruments, and safety equipment for each task

Credentials (Certificates, Licences, Memberships, Courses)

• Electrician Trade Certification (Journeyperson or provincial equivalent, or eligibility as per Nova Scotia regulations)
• Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving record (for travel between job sites) is a strong asset
• Current safety training (e.g., WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid/CPR) is an asset

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Physically demanding work including lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment
• Standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling for extended periods
• Working in confined spaces, at heights, and on ladders or scaffolding
• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for precise electrical work
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
• Occasional overtime, weekend work, and on-call response to service calls
