Job Summary
Reporting to the Track Foreman, the Construction Labourer is responsible for completing day-to-day tasks in alignment with corporate and project goals. These tasks emphasize safety, quality, profitability, and schedule compliance, resulting in exceptional customer satisfaction.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• Embrace and uphold RailWorks’ safety culture by adhering to company policies and industry standards.
• Perform repairs and replacements of turnout components such as switch points, frogs, and plates.
• Conduct maintenance and repairs of track components, including rails, ties, spikes, and timber crossings.
• Inspect track conditions and report or repair identified defects.
• Operate company vehicles and equipment responsibly, ensuring maintenance and inspections are completed daily.
• Assist the Track Maintenance Foreman with special assignments.
• Maintain accurate documentation as per PNR Quality Management System.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of track maintenance processes and standards.
• Preferred: Certification in Track Inspection Guidelines and Canadian Railway Operating Rules.
• Ability to read and interpret schedules, railway plans, and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in carrying out instructions.
• Proficiency in using computers, tablets, and other devices.
• Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

• Works outdoors at construction sites, exposed to varying weather conditions (hot, cold, wet).
• Frequently performs physical activities such as standing, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
• Works in environments with loud noise, live track/trains, and high voltage exposure.
• Availability to work flexible schedules, including days, afternoons, and nights.
