Position Details

  • Position: Material Handler
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Role Purpose
The Material Handler is responsible for operating powered equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count products. This role also includes checking inbound and outbound products to ensure they are free of damage, properly labeled, and meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Physically load products onto equipment, pallets, or totes for over 20% of the shift.
  • Pick and put away products for shipment or stock.
  • Verify product quantity, quality, labeling, and shipping details.
  • Change equipment batteries or LP tanks and monitor power sources.
  • Report discrepancies such as missing or damaged products.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections.
  • Assist in physical inventory counts.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Forklift certification or completion of forklift training within 30 days of employment
  • Six months of warehouse experience (preferred)
  • Six months of forklift operation experience (preferred)

  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials

Skills and Knowledge Needed

  • Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other equipment
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking
  • Strong coordination and multitasking abilities
  • Effective communication skills

Education and Certification Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift certification (can be obtained within 30 days of employment)
  • WHMIS and other workplace safety certifications (preferred)
