Job Overview
A well-established grain farm near Virden, Manitoba is seeking reliable and hard-working Grain Farm Workers for the upcoming season. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy physical outdoor work, want to gain or build Canadian farming experience, and are ready to contribute to all stages of grain crop production. Staff accommodation is available on-site, making this role ideal for candidates from other provinces or countries who want to live and work in a rural farming community. You will assist with planting, spraying, harvesting, and general farm maintenance while operating modern farm machinery under supervision and following strict safety and biosecurity procedures.

Experience

• 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience in farming, heavy equipment operation, or other outdoor manual work is preferred
• Employer will provide job-specific training for machinery and farm procedures

Work Setting

• Rural area near Virden, MB

• On-site work only; no remote work

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Plant, cultivate, and irrigate grain crops according to farm plans and supervisor instructions
• Fertilize and spray crops using farm equipment, following safety, environmental, and label directions
• Harvest crops using combines and other machinery, ensuring efficient and careful handling of grain
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment (e.g., tractors, seeders, sprayers, combines, grain carts) after appropriate training
• Perform general farm duties including field preparation, rock picking, yard work, fencing repairs, and basic building maintenance
• Assist with loading and unloading grain, moving grain with augers, and helping with storage and handling operations
• Conduct basic daily checks on machinery (fluids, tires, lights, cleanliness) and report issues to supervisors
• Ensure farm safety and biosecurity procedures are followed at all times (restricted area rules, equipment hygiene, fuel and chemical handling)
• Help keep work areas clean and organized, including farmyard, shops, and storage areas
• Follow directions from farm managers and contribute to a positive, cooperative team environment

• Work is outdoors in all weather conditions (sun, wind, rain, cold, heat)
• Fast-paced environment during seeding and harvest with tight weather-dependent timelines
• Physically demanding tasks including lifting, carrying, climbing steps on machinery, and long periods of standing or walking
• Repetitive tasks such as operating machinery for extended periods and performing routine maintenance
• Handling heavy loads such as bags, tools, and equipment components
• Bending, crouching, kneeling, and working on uneven ground are regularly required
• Long days and overtime may be necessary during critical farming periods
