Job Overview
Grace_Mar Farms LTD is looking for an experienced and hands-on Dairy Farm Foreman/Woman to supervise daily operations on a busy dairy farm in rural Chilliwack, BC. This role is ideal for someone who has solid experience with dairy cattle, enjoys working directly with animals and farm staff, and is ready to take on responsibility for herd health, milking operations, and general farm coordination. You will lead a small team, oversee calving and breeding programs, and ensure that safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare standards are maintained at all times. Experience

  • 2 years to less than 3 years of relevant farm experience, preferably in dairy or livestock operations
  • Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership on a farm is a strong asset

Work Site Environment

  • Dairy and livestock environment
  • Outdoors and in barns/milking parlours
  • Hot, dusty, noisy, and with strong odours typical of livestock operations
  • Work around large animals and farm machinery in conditions that can be dangerous if safety procedures are not followed

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Handle and work safely with dairy cattle, including moving, sorting, and restraining animals as needed
  • Monitor the calving process, assist with difficult births when required, and ensure newborn calves receive appropriate early care
  • Regularly monitor animal health, behaviour, and condition; identify signs of illness, injury, or distress and respond promptly
  • Supervise milking operations to ensure work is done correctly, hygienically, and efficiently according to farm protocols
  • Treat livestock health issues under farm protocols and in consultation with veterinarians or herd health advisors
  • Supervise and oversee breeding programs, including heat detection, breeding timing, and record-keeping for dairy cattle
  • Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and biosecurity procedures
  • Ensure all farm safety and biosecurity procedures are followed by all staff at all times
  • Operate and oversee feeding and watering systems to ensure animals receive proper nutrition and clean water
  • Perform and supervise general farm duties such as cleaning barns, bedding stalls, feeding, yard maintenance, and basic repairs
  • Coordinate daily work schedules for staff, assign tasks, and monitor performance and productivity
  • Train and guide staff in proper animal handling, milking procedures, hygiene, and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records related to animal health, breeding, calving, production, and treatments
  • Communicate regularly with farm owners/managers about herd status, staff performance, and any operational issues
