Responsibilities

• Hire and train or arrange for training of cleaning staff
• Supervise and coordinate activities of cleaning and sanitation workers
• Inspect sites or facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met
• Prepare budgets and cost estimates for cleaning operations
• Coordinate work activities with other departments including production and quality assurance
• Establish work schedules for cleaning team members
• Develop and implement cleaning procedures and protocols
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Order and manage cleaning products and materials
• Address and resolve any cleaning-related issues or concerns
• Monitor and enforce workplace health and safety regulations
• Prepare reports on cleaning activities and team performance
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives for sanitation processes
• Collaborate with quality assurance on food safety audits
• Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals
• Respond to sanitation emergencies and urgent cleaning needs
• Foster a positive and productive team environment
• Maintain documentation and records for regulatory compliance

Credentials (Preferred)

• Food safety certification (HACCP, SQF, or equivalent)
• WHMIS certification
• Supervisory or management training
• First Aid and CPR certification (an asset)
• Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
