Languages: English
Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
Experience: 1 to less than 7 months (new graduates welcome)
Work Setting
- Nursing home and home for the aged
- Long-term care facility

- Team-based healthcare setting
Responsibilities
- Serve meal trays and feed patients according to dietary requirements
- Weigh, lift, turn, and position patients safely
- Make beds and maintain patients’ rooms in clean and comfortable condition
- Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations, and enemas as directed
- Bathe, dress, and groom patients with dignity and respect
- Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher
- Answer call signals promptly to determine patients’ needs
- Assist residents with daily living activities
- Monitor and report changes in resident health or behaviour
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
- Assist with mobility exercises and ambulation
- Maintain accurate documentation and care records
- Follow infection control protocols and safety procedures
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff and healthcare team
- Respect resident privacy, dignity, and individual preferences
- Participate in care planning meetings as required
- Support residents during recreational and social activities
- Respond to emergency situations calmly and effectively
Credentials
- Health Care Aide Certificate (required)
- CPR and First Aid certification (an asset)
- Current immunization records
- BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry eligible
Security and Safety Requirements
- Criminal record check required
- Vulnerable sector check required
- References required
- TB screening and health clearance
