The Salvation Army is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide to join our multidisciplinary team in Calgary, AB. As part of our caregiving team, you will collaborate to provide comprehensive palliative care in a supportive, home-like environment. This role is integral in meeting the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of our residents and their families.

Description
As a Health Care Aide, your primary responsibilities will include delivering personal care, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents, and ensuring their overall well-being. Working closely with the Registered Nurse and other team members, you will contribute to creating a caring community that aligns with the values and mission of The Salvation Army.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver excellent physical care to hospice residents in collaboration with Registered Nurses.
Address the safety, emotional, and spiritual needs of residents and their families.
Provide basic care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, meal assistance, and maintaining clean resident rooms.
Administer medicated and non-medicated creams under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Participate in meetings, in-services, and professional development sessions.
Complete designated cleaning tasks and other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education/Certifications:

Completion of a Health Care Aide or Personal Care Attendant Course as per Alberta Health regulations.
Active registration with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
Certification in First Aid and CPR.
Grade 12 education or equivalent (preferred).

Experience:

Advertisements

At least 1 year of caregiving experience, ideally in hospice or palliative care settings.
Experience with residents facing cancer or AIDS is an asset.
