Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking passionate and resilient Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs) to join Bracken Ward at the Airedale Centre for Mental Health. Bracken Ward specializes in the acute functional mental health care of individuals aged 65 and over who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis.

This role is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, dedicated to holistic care, and eager to work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide generic care and planned interventions to patients within the Older Peoples Mental Health Acute Care Service.
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, physical health, and emotional comfort while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
  • Support registered healthcare professionals in delivering clinical care to a defined group of patients.
  • Ensure patient safety and a positive experience by treating all individuals with respect, dignity, and courtesy.
  • Work under the direction of registered professionals and Assistant Practitioners for delegated tasks.
  • Contribute to a recovery-focused environment, encouraging patients’ participation in their care journey.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Education and Certification

  • Experience in healthcare, social care, or a related field (desirable).
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (preferred but not essential).
  • Ability to complete mandatory training provided by the Trust.
  • A willingness to gain additional skills and knowledge through on-the-job training.
