Job Overview
Join a caring private household in Maple, ON as a Personal Care Provider and make a real difference in a client’s daily life. In this role, you will provide respectful, one-on-one support in the client’s home, assisting with personal care, daily activities, exercise, and companionship. This is a stable, long-term position ideal for someone who is compassionate, patient, and committed to helping individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities maintain dignity, comfort, and independence.

You will be working on site in a non-smoking home environment with flexible scheduling, including some evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts, depending on the client’s needs.

Requirements

• English (clear communication required daily)
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in personal care or home support
• CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain immediately)
• Clean criminal record check and strong references required
• Female applicants only (requirement of the client)
• Physically capable of lifting up to 9 kg (20 lbs), assisting with mobility, and handling repetitive tasks

What You’ll Do

• Administer bedside and personal care according to the client’s needs and care plan
• Assist clients in water (e.g., in a pool), ensuring safety at all times
• Assist clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other aspects of personal hygiene
• Assist in regular exercise and mobility activities, such as walks or light stretching
• Feed or assist in feeding, following any dietary restrictions or swallowing guidelines
• Plan and support therapeutic diets and menus in consultation with the employer or health professionals
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks
• Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support
• Provide personal care with respect, privacy, and cultural sensitivity
• Monitor and report any changes in the client’s physical or emotional condition to the employer/family
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in areas used by the client (e.g., kitchen, bedroom, bathroom)
• Follow all safety, health, and hygiene procedures as directed

Education and Experience Requirements

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in personal care, home care, or a similar support role

Work Location and Environment

• On-site only: work must be completed at the employer’s/client’s home (no remote work)
• Non-smoking environment
• Home care setting, one-on-one with the client

Client Population

Experience and Specialization

• Experience supporting female clients

• Comfortable providing personal care and assisting with mobility and daily living activities

Security and Safety Requirements

• References required (professional or work-related)
• Willingness to comply with any additional screening requested by the employer

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the shift
• Fast-paced environment at times, depending on the client’s condition and needs
• Physically demanding; ability to assist with transfers, mobility, and positioning
• Handling heavy loads as needed
• Repetitive tasks such as assisting with personal care and mobility exercises
• Ability to work under pressure during emergencies or sudden changes in the client’s condition
• Weight handling: up to 9 kg (20 lbs)
