Job Overview
A caring and reliable Home Support Worker is required to provide one-on-one in-home assistance to an adult client in a private residence in Brampton. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys helping others, is patient and respectful, and wants to build a stable, long-term position with a single family. You will provide personal care, support with activities of daily living, companionship, and light housekeeping, helping the client remain safe, comfortable, and as independent as possible at home. If you are looking for a meaningful caregiving role rather than a rotating facility position, this opportunity offers consistent full-time hours in a family setting.

- Equivalent experience
Experience
- 1 to less than 7 months of related experience (e.g., caregiver, PSW assistant, home support worker, nursing aide, or similar)
- Family will provide guidance and orientation to specific care needs and household routines
Work Setting
- Employer’s private home in Brampton, ON
- In-person role only; all work must be performed at the client’s residence
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Administer bedside and personal care in a safe, respectful, and professional manner
- Assist client with bathing, showering, grooming, dressing, and other aspects of personal hygiene while maintaining dignity and privacy
- Administer medications as directed by the family or health professionals, following clear instructions and documenting as required
- Feed or assist in feeding, ensuring safe swallowing and respecting dietary preferences and restrictions
- Provide personal care such as toileting assistance, mobility support (transfers, walking, repositioning), and comfort measures
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to the client’s needs and taste
- Cook simple to moderately complex meals as requested by the family, ensuring food safety and cleanliness
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the client’s living areas (tidying room, washing dishes, wiping surfaces, light laundry)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment to reduce risks and support comfort
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support to reduce loneliness and promote mental well-being
- Assist with regular exercise, such as short walks or simple activities, if appropriate and recommended
- Observe and promptly report any changes in the client’s physical or emotional condition to the employer or designated family member
- Respect the family’s routines, cultural practices, and personal preferences at all times
Additional Information
- Background checks and references may be requested and verified before hiring
- Training on specific household routines and client preferences will be provided
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Ability to assist with lifting and supporting the client safely as needed (e.g., helping with transfers or mobility)
- Periods of standing, walking, bending, and assisting with personal care tasks
- Repetitive tasks related to hygiene, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
- Need for attention to detail in following medication instructions, care plans, and safety procedures
- Ability to remain calm and supportive when the client’s needs are urgent or routines change unexpectedly
