Job Overview
A private family in Brampton is looking for a compassionate, reliable Home Support Worker to provide one-on-one care and daily living assistance in their home. - Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or
- Equivalent experience
Experience
- 1 to less than 7 months of relevant experience (e.g., home support, personal care, caregiver, PSW assistant), or a combination of paid and unpaid caregiving experience
- Employer will provide guidance and orientation to the client’s specific needs and routines
Work Setting
- Client’s private home in Brampton, ON
- In-person role only (no remote work)
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Administer bedside and personal care in a respectful and professional manner
- Assist client with bathing, grooming, and other aspects of personal hygiene while maintaining dignity and privacy
- Assist in regular exercise, such as walks or simple prescribed activities, as tolerated and recommended
- Feed or assist in feeding, ensuring safe swallowing and respect for dietary preferences and restrictions
- Provide personal care including dressing, toileting assistance, and mobility support (e.g., transfers, positioning)
- Plan therapeutic diets and menus in line with health needs and family preferences
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks; cook simple to moderate meals as required
- Shop for food and household supplies as requested, following lists and basic budgets
- Launder clothing and household linens; dry, fold, and organize them appropriately
- Mend clothing and linens when needed
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties (tidying rooms, washing dishes, wiping surfaces, maintaining a clean and safe environment)
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support to reduce isolation and promote well-being
- Observe and report any changes in the client’s condition, mood, or behaviour to the family/employer
- Respect and follow the family’s routines, cultural practices, and house rules
Additional Information – Security and Safety
- Criminal record check required (vulnerable sector check may be requested)
- References from previous caregiving or work roles may be requested and verified
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Ability to assist with lifting, moving, and supporting the client safely as needed
- Periods of standing, walking, bending, and helping with physical tasks
- Repetitive tasks related to personal care and housekeeping
- Need for close attention to detail in following care instructions, hygiene, and safety procedures
- Willingness to work overtime when required to meet client’s needs (with appropriate compensation)
