POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Nurse Manager and working under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the Care Aide will provide essential support and care to residents.
Responsibilities:
Provide personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, oral hygiene, skin and nail care).
Assist with resident mobility using aids like walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts.
Perform nursing tasks such as enemas, specimen collection, administering eye drops, and minor non-sterile dressings.
Record observations and report changes in residents’ conditions to the RN or LPN.
Assist residents with meals and monitor food intake.
Maintain a clean and safe environment, including making beds, sanitizing basins, and replenishing supplies.
Participate in care planning and attend staff development programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a recognized Health Care Aide program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Eligible for registration with the BC Care Aide Registry.
Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong organizational skills and ability to work well with others.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to operate related equipment.
