Job Overview
KJS Transport Inc. is expanding and looking for safety-focused, career-minded Long Haul Truck Drivers to join our fleet based in Brampton, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for drivers who want a high hourly wage, consistent work, and the stability of a reputable carrier. We are prepared to train motivated candidates who hold the proper licence and are serious about a professional long-haul driving career. You will operate well-maintained equipment across Canada and the USA, handling a variety of loads while representing the company with professionalism and integrity.

- Experience is an asset, but not mandatory; employer will train suitable candidates with the right licence and attitude
- Previous long-haul, regional, or cross-border experience is a strong asset
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials over long distances
- Transport and handle dangerous goods in compliance with all regulations (if assigned)
- Plan trips and adjust routes based on road, weather, or customer requirements, using GPS and dispatch information
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes (Canada/USA)
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle condition
- Check and monitor tires, lights, brakes, cold storage units, and other equipment for safe operation
- Perform basic brake adjustments and preventive maintenance as permitted and trained
- Perform emergency roadside repairs when safe and within your capabilities, and coordinate further assistance as needed
- Tarp, secure, and ensure the safety and security of all cargo to prevent damage and loss
- Load and unload goods, or supervise loading/unloading to ensure proper weight distribution and load security
- Receive and relay information to and from central dispatch, providing accurate and timely updates
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption in driver logs and company systems
- Complete required documentation accurately, including bills of lading, driver logbooks, and accident/incident reports if needed
- Address customers’ concerns or complaints professionally and report issues to dispatch or management
- Arrange travel and related itineraries, and make reservations as needed for long-haul trips
- Pay and receive payments for goods when required, ensuring correct documentation and receipts
- Drive lighter or special-purpose trucks when assigned within the fleet
Credentials (Certificates, Licences, Memberships, Courses)
- Valid AZ class licence (or provincial Class 1 equivalent)
- Clean or acceptable driver’s abstract (recent driving record may be required)
- Experience with driver logbooks, bills of lading, and other transport documentation is an asset
- Dangerous goods certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain)

Security and Safety
- Criminal record check may be required
- Driver’s licence validity and abstract check required
- Strict adherence to hours-of-service regulations and company safety policies
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Extended periods of sitting while driving
- Repetitive tasks such as monitoring instruments, logging, and inspections
- Handling heavy loads, including tarps and cargo securement equipment
- Physically demanding tasks when loading/unloading and securing freight
- Large workload with variable hours depending on freight and routes
- Driving in varied weather and traffic conditions, day and night

- Excellent written communication for accurate logs and documentation

- Strong attention to detail in inspections, paperwork, and cargo securement
- Good judgement, particularly in safety-related decisions and route selection
- Patience and calm attitude when facing delays, inspections, or unexpected challenges
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while on the road
- Team player mindset, especially when driving in convoys, coordinating with other drivers, or helping new team members
