Job Overview
A caring and reliable Personal Support Worker (Home Support) is needed to provide individualized, in-home care to an elderly person and/or a person with a disability in Kitchener, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated caregiver who prefers stable hours with a single client rather than rotating facility shifts and who wants to build a long-term, trusting relationship with a family. You will assist with personal care, medication support, daily living activities, and light housekeeping, while offering companionship and emotional support. Optional free live-in accommodation is available, making this role especially attractive for local candidates and internationally trained caregivers seeking a secure start in Canada with LMIA sponsorship.

- No degree, certificate or diploma required
- Any formal caregiver, PSW, or nursing aide training is an asset
Experience
- 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related role (e.g., PSW, caregiver, home support worker, nursing aide)
- Experience supporting elderly clients and/or persons with disabilities is preferred
Work Setting
- Employer’s/client’s private home in Kitchener, ON
- Optional live-in arrangement available at no charge
- One-on-one care environment rather than institutional or facility-based care
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Administer bedside and personal care as directed by the family and/or health professionals
- Administer medications according to written instructions from the family or health care provider, documenting as required
- Assist clients with bathing, showering, grooming, dressing, and other aspects of personal hygiene while preserving dignity and privacy
- Provide personal care such as toileting assistance, mobility support (transfers, walking, positioning), and comfort measures
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks based on the client’s dietary needs, medical conditions, and preferences
- Cook simple to moderately complex meals and ensure safe food handling and kitchen cleanliness
- Plan therapeutic diets and menus when required, in consultation with the family or health professionals
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support to reduce loneliness and promote mental well-being
- Encourage and assist with regular exercise or mobility activities (e.g., short walks, prescribed movements) as appropriate
- Launder clothing and household linens; fold, iron (if needed), and organize them neatly
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the client’s living areas (tidying, dusting, washing dishes, wiping surfaces)
- Help maintain a safe, tidy, and comfortable home environment, identifying and reporting potential hazards
- Observe and promptly report any changes in the client’s physical or emotional condition to the employer or designated contact
- Respect and follow family routines, cultural practices, and privacy at all times
