Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Aide to join our team in Surrey, BC. In this role, you will assist healthcare professionals by supporting patients, maintaining cleanliness, transporting items, and performing clerical duties. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about patient care and looking to grow in the healthcare sector.
Responsibilities

Direct, transport, and escort patients within the facility and to/from other departments
β
Assist patients with changing into and out of gowns as necessary
β
Clean and stock exam rooms and designated areas with medical supplies
β
Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments and medical equipment
β
Perform general service duties such as picking up/delivering reports, messages, requisitions, specimens, and supplies
β
Answer telephones and photocopy documents
β
Relay patient concerns and information to the healthcare team
Requirements
π Education: Grade 10 completion
π Training: Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
π Certification: Must be registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
Skills & Knowledge Needed
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing)
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to deal with others in a professional and compassionate manner
- Physical Ability: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods and transporting patients
- Typing Proficiency: Minimum 30 w.p.m.
- Organization & Multitasking: Ability to manage workload efficiently
- Technical Skills: Ability to operate medical and office-related equipment
Work Environment for Patient Care Aides in Canada
