Job Overview
Fas Gas Drayton Valley is seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Store Manager to lead daily operations at a busy fuel and convenience store location. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands retail, enjoys working closely with staff and customers, and can balance operational efficiency with excellent service. You will be responsible for all aspects of store performance—from staff supervision and merchandising to inventory control and problem-solving—while helping drive sales and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

• 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in retail management or a similar supervisory role (fuel/convenience, grocery, or other high-traffic retail environments is a strong asset)

Work Setting

• Retail business (fuel station and convenience store environment)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Direct and control daily store operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe functioning of the business
• Plan and organize daily operations, including staff schedules, opening/closing procedures, and task allocation
• Manage staff and assign duties to 3–4 employees, ensuring coverage across cash, floor, and forecourt operations
• Lead, coach, and motivate staff to meet customer service standards and operational targets
• Locate, select, and procure merchandise for resale in line with brand guidelines and customer demand
• Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and manage stock rotation to minimize shortages and wastage
• Resolve issues that may arise, including customer requests, complaints, and supply shortages, in a professional and timely manner
• Ensure cash handling, deposits, and reconciliation are completed accurately and securely
• Implement and maintain merchandising standards, promotional displays, and signage to maximize sales
• Enforce health, safety, cleanliness, and security standards inside the store and on the forecourt
• Monitor fuel operations (where applicable), ensuring pumps, payment terminals, and safety procedures are functioning correctly
• Track key performance indicators (e.g., sales, margins, labour hours) and report to ownership/management as required
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new employees on company policies, customer service, and operational procedures
• Conduct regular inspections of the store and forecourt to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
• Maintain accurate records related to inventory, staff scheduling, incidents, and maintenance requests

Supervision

• 3–4 people (store staff/cashiers/attendants)

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Work under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment, particularly during peak hours
• Standing and walking for extended periods during shifts
• Some lifting, stocking shelves, and handling deliveries may be required
• Need to manage multiple priorities at once (customers, staff, deliveries, and administrative tasks)
