Job Overview
A compassionate and reliable Personal Support Worker is needed to provide dedicated, in-home support to an elderly client in Toronto, Ontario. This role is ideal for someone who truly cares about seniors, prefers one-on-one care over institutional settings, and wants to build a long-term, trusting relationship with a client and their family. You will assist with personal care, meals, light housekeeping, and companionship, helping the client remain safe, comfortable, and dignified in their own home. Optional live-in accommodation and employer-provided transportation make this a strong opportunity for both local and international candidates seeking stable full-time work with LMIA sponsorship.

  • Work in employer’s/client’s home in Toronto, ON

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Administer bedside and personal care in a respectful, safe, and professional manner
  • Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene while preserving dignity and privacy
  • Feed or assist in feeding, ensuring safe swallowing and respect for dietary needs and preferences
  • Provide personal care including mobility support (transfers, positioning, walking support) and comfort measures
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks tailored to the client’s dietary requirements and preferences
  • Cook simple to moderately complex meals, ensuring safe food handling and a clean kitchen area
  • Launder clothing and household linens; fold, iron (if required), and store items neatly
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties such as tidying rooms, washing dishes, wiping surfaces, and keeping the client’s environment clean and safe
  • Provide companionship and emotional support, including conversation, reading, or engaging in simple activities to reduce loneliness and promote mental well-being
  • Assist with regular exercise, such as gentle walks or prescribed movements, as appropriate and safe
  • Observe and promptly report any changes in the client’s physical or emotional condition to the employer or designated family member
  • Respect and follow family routines, cultural practices, and privacy at all times

  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the shift
  • Bending, crouching, and kneeling to assist with personal care and household tasks
  • Fast-paced at times when balancing multiple tasks during a shift
  • Physically demanding, including assisting with transfers and handling weights up to 45 kg (100 lbs) using proper body mechanics and assistive devices where available
  • Repetitive tasks related to hygiene, meal preparation, and housekeeping
  • Ability to work under pressure, especially when client needs are urgent or routines change unexpectedly

  • Reliability in maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries within the home
  • Team player attitude when coordinating with family members and any visiting health professionals
  • Patience and empathy, especially when supporting an elderly client who may move slowly, experience pain, or require extra time and reassurance
  • Honesty and integrity, particularly important in a private home setting and when working independently
