Unity Health Toronto is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Cystoscopy Urology Department at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. This role is an integral part of the Perioperative Program, providing high-quality care across the peri- and post-operative journey. Key Responsibilities
Patient Care

Work in all areas of the Cystoscopy, Operating Room (OR), and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Conduct assessments to determine patient care and learning needs.
Develop and implement evidence-based care plans in collaboration with inter-professional teams.
Provide health education to patients and their families using effective teaching strategies.
Document observations, assessments, and care provided, ensuring a seamless care transition.
Anticipate, recognize, and address rapidly changing patient conditions.

Collaboration & Coordination

Act as the primary resource for organizing and coordinating patient care activities.
Maintain respectful, collaborative, and therapeutic relationships with team members.
Facilitate safe patient transitions and communicate effectively with all care stakeholders.

Leadership

Advocate for a safe, ethical, and culturally appropriate nursing practice.
Mentor and coach students, co-workers, and other health professionals.
Embrace change to improve nursing practices and patient outcomes.
Participate in hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives.

Quality Improvement

Participate in professional development to enhance clinical competencies.

Qualifications
Education & Certification

Active General Class (Practicing) Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Perioperative Nursing Certificate (required or willingness to complete within 1 year).
Post-Anesthesia Care Nursing or Critical Care Certificate (asset or willingness to complete within 1 year). Sponsorship available.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is mandatory.
CNA Certification in Perioperative Nursing is an asset.

Experience

Recent clinical experience in Cystoscopy OR (minimum 1 year).
Experience in Urology, PACU, or related fields preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Strong theoretical/practical knowledge of ORNAC, NAPAN, and AORN Standards.
Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written).
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Flexibility in scheduling to meet unit needs.
