Job Overview
Northwind Transport Ltd. is looking for a dependable and safety-focused Dump Truck Driver to join its team in the Saskatoon area. You will haul aggregates, construction materials, and other loads to and from job sites, quarries, and plants, ensuring safe operation, accurate documentation, and professional service. This role is ideal for Class 1 drivers who enjoy a mix of driving and hands-on work, want to be home most nights, and are looking for stable, year-round employment with a reputable local carrier.

Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or equivalent experience
Experience
- 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant driving experience (dump truck, construction hauling, or similar Class 1 work)
Credentials (Certificates, Licences, Memberships, Courses)
- Valid Driver’s Licence (Class 1 or A)
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
- Clean or acceptable driving record (recent driver’s abstract required)
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Operate dump trucks to transport aggregates, soil, construction materials, and other loads as assigned
- Load and unload goods, or oversee loading/unloading to ensure proper weight distribution and securement
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle condition
- Inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage (if applicable), and other equipment, and report defects promptly
- Perform brake adjustments and basic preventive maintenance tasks within your scope and training
- Perform emergency roadside repairs when safe and feasible, and coordinate further assistance as needed
- Tarp loads and ensure the safety and security of cargo in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
- Receive and relay information to and from central dispatch, providing accurate updates on job status, delays, or issues
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption using logs or electronic systems
- Follow all provincial and federal regulations, including hours-of-service, weight limits, and traffic laws
- Operate the truck safely in various weather and road conditions, including construction sites and gravel roads
- Represent the company professionally at all times with customers, site personnel, and the public
Security and Safety
- Driving record check (abstract) required
- Valid driver’s licence must be maintained in good standing
- Strict adherence to company safety policies and applicable regulations
Transportation/Travel Information
- Work is based out of the Saskatoon area; routes are generally local or regional (home most nights)
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Physically demanding at times, including climbing in and out of the truck, attaching tarps, and handling equipment
- Repetitive tasks such as shifting, monitoring gauges, and performing inspections
- Combination of sitting for extended periods while driving and short periods of physical activity at job sites
- Exposure to outdoor conditions (dust, mud, heat, cold, noise) at worksites and loading areas
- Need for strong attention to detail to ensure load security, accurate logs, and safe operation
