Supervision

Responsibilities

• Estimate costs and materials for welding projects and repairs
• Prepare production and other operational reports
• Recruit and hire workers and carry out related staffing actions
• Coordinate and schedule activities for welding team
• Ensure health and safety regulations are followed at all times
• Oversee the operation of welding department
• Requisition or order materials, equipment, and supplies
• Set up machines and equipment for welding operations
• Supervise workers and projects to ensure quality and timelines
• Train and mentor welders on techniques and safety procedures
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members
• Monitor inventory of welding supplies and materials
• Troubleshoot welding issues and provide technical guidance
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback
• Ensure proper maintenance of welding equipment
• Coordinate with other departments on project requirements
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate records of production and labour
• Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues
• Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards

Welding Skills and Knowledge

• MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes
• Structural and equipment welding
• Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation

Credentials (Required/Preferred)

• Welder Trade Certification or Red Seal Endorsement
• CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification (an asset)
• Supervisory or management training (an asset)
• Valid driver’s license
• First Aid and CPR certification (an asset)
• WHMIS certification
