Job Overview
SST 2006 is seeking a dependable and hard‑working Cleaner to join our team in a chemical processing plant in Jonquière, Québec. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and compliant environment around production machinery, offices, and common areas. You will use industrial cleaning equipment and follow strict safety procedures to protect employees, equipment, and the environment. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are physically fit, detail‑oriented, and interested in stable, long‑term work in Quebec’s industrial sector. Full training on plant procedures, safety protocols, and specialized equipment will be provided.

Experience

  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in industrial cleaning, building maintenance, or similar work is an asset

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Operate industrial vacuum cleaners and power sweepers to remove scraps, dust, heavy debris, and other refuse from production and common areas
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hallways, floors, and stairs to maintain safe, non‑slip walking surfaces
  • Wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings in production and office areas as required
  • Empty trash cans and other waste containers and transport waste to designated disposal or recycling locations, following plant procedures
  • Clean and disinfect washrooms, locker rooms, and fixtures, ensuring high hygiene standards
  • Clean around production machinery and equipment, using appropriate tools and methods to avoid damage and ensure safe operation
  • Use pressure cleaners, hoses, and other specialized cleaning devices to wash down floors, platforms, and process areas as directed
  • Assist with cleaning tasks related to minor chemical spills and residues, strictly following training and safety protocols (PPE, containment, and reporting)
  • Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas to maintain safe access to the plant in winter (seasonal)
  • Cut grass and tend grounds and plants to keep outdoor areas neat and presentable (seasonal)
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies when necessary to access areas for cleaning
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and tools in good working condition and report any defects or maintenance needs to the supervisor
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures, including lockout/tagout and restricted area rules where applicable
  • Report any safety hazards, unusual conditions, or incidents to the supervisor immediately

  • Production machinery (cleaning around and near equipment safely)
  • Pressure cleaners
  • Jackhammer (for specific cleaning/maintenance tasks if trained)
  • Industrial hoses
  • Industrial vacuum cleaners and power sweepers

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Physically demanding role with regular lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs) safely and repeatedly
  • Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling to reach low or confined areas
  • Standing and walking for extended periods during the shift
  • Working in an industrial environment with noise, dust, humidity, and proximity to machinery (appropriate PPE provided)
  • Need to follow detailed procedures and work safely at all times
