Experience

  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a similar role, such as:
    • Home support worker
    • Personal support worker

Credentials (Assets)

  • CPR Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • If you do not already have these, willingness to obtain them before or shortly after starting is an asset

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Advertisements
  • Provide person-centered care and emotional support to the client
  • Administer bedside and personal care, including:
    • Bathing, grooming, and dressing
    • Assistance with toileting and personal hygiene
  • Assist in regular exercise and mobility, e.g.:
    • Short walks
    • Gentle supported movement, as directed
  • Feed or assist in feeding, ensuring comfort and safety while eating
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to the client’s dietary needs and preferences
  • Provide companionship, including:
    • Conversation and social interaction
    • Reading, games, or other simple activities as appropriate
  • Monitor the client’s general well-being and promptly report any changes or concerns to the employer/family
  • Assist with simple household tasks related to the client’s care (e.g., tidying the client’s room or care area, light cleanup after meals)
  • Follow all care plans, instructions, and safety guidelines provided by the employer or healthcare professionals
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect the client’s privacy at all times

Security and Safety Requirements

  • Criminal record check required
  • Work-related references required
  • Willingness to comply with household rules and privacy expectations

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the shift
  • Fast-paced environment at times, depending on the client’s needs
  • Physically demanding tasks, including:
    • Assisting with transfers and mobility
    • Handling light to moderate loads
  • Repetitive tasks (e.g., assisting with daily routines)
  • Ability to work under pressure when client needs are urgent or change quickly
  • Weight handling: up to 9 kg (20 lbs)
