Job Overview
A welcoming family in Oakville, Ontario is seeking a warm, responsible, and organized Nanny to provide safe, engaging, and consistent care for their children in the family home. You will support the children’s daily routines, learning, and emotional well-being while helping to keep the household running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who truly enjoys working with children, can manage multiple tasks in a busy home, and is looking for a long-term, full-time position in Canada. Optional live-in accommodation is available at no charge if desired, making this an excellent opportunity for both local and international candidates.

Experience
- 1 to less than 7 months of recent hands-on experience caring for children (nanny, babysitter, childcare worker, teacher’s assistant, or similar)
- Experience caring for more than one child at a time is an asset
Work Setting
- Employer’s private home in Oakville, ON
- Supervision and care of a multi-aged group of children
- Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis (not a condition of employment; live-out candidates are welcome)
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Supervise and care for children at all times while on duty, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents, following established routines and rules
- Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children, helping them feel comfortable and secure
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, taking into account any dietary preferences or restrictions
- Instruct children in personal hygiene, self-care habits, and social development (e.g., manners, sharing, communication)
- Discipline children according to the methods and guidelines requested by the parents, using consistent and respectful approaches
- Organize and lead age-appropriate activities such as games, crafts, reading, outdoor play, and local outings
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home by monitoring activities, removing hazards, and encouraging safe play
- Take children to and from school, extracurricular activities, playdates, and appointments as needed (using public transportation or walking, as appropriate)
- Tend to the emotional well-being of children by offering comfort, support, encouragement, and positive reinforcement
- Help children with homework and school-related tasks, supporting good study habits and routines
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the children, such as tidying play areas, washing dishes after meals, and organizing children’s belongings
- Assist with children’s laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothing and linens
- Communicate regularly with parents about the children’s activities, behaviour, progress, and any concerns or changes noticed
- Follow any care plans or special instructions provided by parents or healthcare professionals
Experience and Specialization – Target Audience

Security and Safety
- Criminal record check required or willingness to obtain before starting employment
- Vulnerable sector check and references from previous childcare or employment roles are considered strong assets
Transportation/Travel Information

- Travel expenses paid by employer for work-related travel with the children, as applicable (e.g., transit fares)
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Active role requiring a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and playing with children throughout the day
- Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying children or items (toys, bags, groceries)
- Ability to handle occasional stressful or emotionally demanding situations calmly and patiently
- Need to stay attentive and engaged for extended periods while supervising children

- Excellent oral communication skills to interact clearly with children and parents

- Good judgment in responding to children’s needs, safety concerns, and unexpected situations
- Organized, able to manage time, routines, and tasks efficiently in a household setting
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong commitment to attendance and fulfilling agreed-upon hours
- Strong time management skills to balance childcare, activities, and light housekeeping duties
- Patience and calm temperament, especially during challenging behaviours or busy periods
- Honesty and integrity, with respect for family privacy and confidentiality
Additional Assets (Not Required but Preferred)
- CPR and First Aid certification for children and infants
- Previous experience as a live-in nanny or caregiver
- Any childcare-related training or courses (e.g., early childhood education assistant, caregiver training)
