Vitafoam Products Canada location is looking for a Chemical Handler/Receiver in North York, ON.
Please note, this position is not a lab role, it is a very physical job controlling, monitoring and maintaining various chemicals processes as it relates to specific operating equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and established company safety rules
- Offload chemicals from Rail Cars and Tanker Trucks daily
- Control and monitor chemicals in storage tanks
- Control and monitor chemical handling equipment (pumps, compressors)
- Operate material handling equipment including a Lift Truck
- Record and follow process instructions
- Clean plant and equipment, including all tanks and mixers as needed to maintain a good housekeeping philosophy
- Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and managers
Requirements:
- College level education in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 2+ years of manufacturing experience
- Must have the ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs. (22.68 kgs)
- Knowledge and experience with a process control system in controlling reactions and processes an asset
- Mechanical aptitude, including knowledge and use of hand tools
- Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions
- Flexibility required to work overtime at times for our 24/7 manufacturing operation
