Key Responsibilities
Personal Care and Support:
• Provide attentive personal care assistance with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living as needed
• Support mobility and transfers safely and appropriately
• Monitor and respond to care recipient’s physical and emotional needs
• Provide companionship and emotional support
• Engage in meaningful conversations and activities
• Encourage independence while providing necessary assistance
• Observe and report any changes in condition or behavior
• Maintain personal hygiene standards for care recipient
Nutrition and Meal Preparation:
• Plan therapeutic diets and menus according to dietary requirements and preferences
• Shop for food and household supplies, selecting quality ingredients
• Prepare and serve nutritious, well-balanced meals
• Cook varied, appealing dishes accommodating dietary restrictions
• Ensure proper food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
• Accommodate special nutritional needs and preferences
• Maintain regular meal schedules
• Assist with feeding if required
Household Management:
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain a tidy, sanitary home
• Launder clothing and household linens properly and regularly
• Mend and repair clothing and linens as needed
• Organize and maintain household areas
• Change bed linens and maintain bedroom cleanliness
• Manage waste disposal and recycling
• Keep kitchen and bathroom areas clean and hygienic
• Maintain general tidiness throughout the home
Shopping and Errands:
• Shop for groceries, household supplies, and personal items
• Plan shopping trips efficiently and budget-consciously
• Select fresh, quality products
• Transport and properly store purchased items
• Run errands as requested
• Manage shopping lists and household inventory
Companionship and Well-being:
• Provide friendly, engaging companionship
• Participate in conversations and activities
• Encourage social interaction and mental stimulation
• Accompany on walks or outings as appropriate
• Support hobbies and interests

Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
• 7 months to 1 year of experience in home support, personal care, healthcare, or related field
• First Aid and CPR certification considered a strong asset
• Home Support Worker certification or training preferred but not required
• Food Safe certification beneficial
• Any health care aide or continuing care assistant training an asset
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
• Understanding of personal care techniques and best practices
• Knowledge of proper nutrition and therapeutic diet planning
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals accommodating dietary restrictions
• Basic housekeeping and laundry skills
• Understanding of health and safety practices in home settings

Language:
