Job Overview
LES PLANCHERS MERCIER INC., a well-established manufacturer of high-quality wood flooring and wood products, is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operator (Woodworking) to join its production team in Drummondville, Quebec. Working primarily on evening and night shifts, you will operate and maintain computerized and manual woodworking machines that transform raw wood into precision-finished products.   • 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience as a machine operator, production worker, or in woodworking or manufacturing
  • Prior experience with CNC or specialized woodworking equipment is a strong asset

  • Industrial production environment with multiple machines and production lines

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Set up, program, and operate one or more computerized or manual woodworking machines according to production orders and specifications
  • Operate preset special-purpose woodworking machines to cut, shape, sand, or finish wood products to exact measurements and quality standards
  • Adjust machine settings (speeds, feeds, tool positions) to optimize quality, efficiency, and material usage
  • Monitor machines during operation to detect irregularities, defects, or malfunctions and make minor adjustments as needed
  • Inspect finished pieces for dimensions, surface quality, and conformity to specifications, and separate defective pieces for rework or discard
  • Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment regularly to ensure smooth and safe operation
  • Replace worn or damaged parts, tools, or blades as required and report larger maintenance issues to the supervisor or maintenance team
  • Help tradespersons, apprentices, and other workers as directed, including assisting with setups, changeovers, and troubleshooting
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas to maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient production environment
  • Follow all workplace health and safety rules, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures when applicable
  • Complete basic production records or reports (e.g., quantities, downtime, defects) as required by the company
