We are seeking a highly analytical and motivated Junior Financial Analyst to join our finance team in Surrey, BC. This role is ideal for a recent or early-career graduate with strong financial training and 1–2 years of experience who wants exposure to budgeting, forecasting, risk analysis, and investment evaluation in a mission-driven company. You will work closely with senior finance leaders, providing analysis and recommendations that influence key decisions across the organization. • English required (written and spoken) for internal and external communication

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field (required)
• Progress toward a professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, CBV) considered an asset but not mandatory
• Solid academic foundation in financial analysis, corporate finance, and accounting principles

Experience Requirements

• 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a financial analyst, junior analyst, budgeting, investment, or related role
• Experience working with financial data, models, and reports in a corporate or financial institution environment is an asset
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or investment appraisal strongly preferred
• Internship or co-op experience in finance may be considered toward experience requirement

Key Responsibilities

Financial Risk and Investment Analysis
• Evaluate financial risk associated with projects, contracts, and investments within the company’s portfolio
• Collect financial and investment information about companies, stocks, bonds, and other investments relevant to EcoSafe’s strategy or treasury activities
• Examine and analyze financial and investment information, including company profiles, stock and bond prices, yields, ratios, and future trends
• Analyze investment projects, including cash flow projections, payback, NPV, IRR, and sensitivity analysis
• Prepare regular risk profiles for debt portfolios and other financial obligations
• Develop and support implementation of risk management plans to mitigate identified financial risks

Reporting and Decision Support
• Prepare company, industry, and economic outlooks to assist senior management with strategic decisions
• Draft analytical reports, briefing notes, dashboards, and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations
• Assist in preparing operating and investment budgets, including analysis of variances versus actual results
• Plan and analyze short- and long-term cash flows and assess financial performance against key metrics
• Advise on and participate in the financial aspects of contracts and calls for tender (e.g., pricing, terms, margin analysis)

Advisory and Stakeholder Support
• Provide investment advice and recommendations to internal stakeholders such as senior company officials, managers, and other decision-makers
• Support pension fund managers, securities agents, and associates as needed with analysis and data (where applicable)
• Communicate complex financial information in an understandable way to non-financial colleagues
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and project teams to assess financial implications of business decisions

Data, Systems, and Process Improvement
• Work with financial systems, spreadsheets, and databases to collect, clean, and analyze data
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data used in reports and models
• Assist in improving internal financial models, templates, and reporting processes for greater efficiency and clarity
• Support month-end and year-end processes with data, analysis, and reconciliations as needed

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Primarily office-based with extended periods working at a computer
• Work under deadlines and time pressure during budget cycles, reporting periods, and key projects
• Requires high attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial data
• Independent work on assigned analyses combined with regular collaboration with team members
• Occasional need to adjust schedule around critical reporting or project deadlines

Technical Skills (Assets)

• Strong proficiency with spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel or equivalent)
• Experience with financial and accounting software is an asset
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) beneficial but not required
• Solid understanding of financial statements, ratios, and corporate finance concepts
