Job Overview
A caring and organized Child Caregiver is required to support a warm family in Woodbridge, Ontario. This is a full-time role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and wants to become a stable, trusted part of the household. You will supervise and care for a multi-aged group of children, support their routines and development, and assist with light household duties connected to their care. The home is non-smoking and scent free, with the option of live-in accommodation at no extra cost, making this an excellent opportunity for both local and international candidates (with LMIA sponsorship available) who are seeking long-term, meaningful employment.

Education Requirements

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or
• Equivalent experience in childcare or related roles

Experience Requirements

• 1 to less than 7 months of childcare or related experience (nanny, babysitter, daycare/helper, au pair, camp counsellor, or similar)
• Experience caring for more than one child at a time is an asset
• Experience with infants and/or younger children is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

Childcare and Daily Routines
• Supervise and care for children at all times during working hours
• Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children, adapting routines to their ages and specific needs
• Instruct children in personal hygiene and self-care (handwashing, brushing teeth, toileting routines, dressing)
• Prepare infants and children for naps and quiet periods as part of a daily routine
• Tend to the emotional well-being of children with patience, empathy, and positive encouragement
• Maintain a calm, nurturing atmosphere that supports children’s physical and emotional development

Household and Family Support
• Assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents within the agreed scope of duties (children’s routines, meals, basic organization, safety)
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the children (tidying play areas, wiping surfaces, cleaning up after meals, children’s laundry)
• Wash, iron, and press children’s clothing and household linens as required
• Travel with the family on trips when requested, assisting with child supervision and light housekeeping duties while away from home

Activities, Development, and Safety
• Organize and lead activities such as games, crafts, reading, and outings that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
• Plan and coordinate outdoor play and outings (e.g., parks, library visits, age-appropriate community activities)
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home at all times, identifying and addressing potential hazards
• Supervise children closely during all activities, indoors and outdoors, and enforce safety rules consistently
• Model and encourage positive social behaviours such as sharing, respect, and cooperation

Nutrition and Meal Preparation
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children, following family dietary preferences and any restrictions
• Cook simple family-style meals when requested by the parents
• Encourage healthy eating habits and appropriate table manners

Travel and Transportation

• Use public transportation or walk with children as needed for outings and appointments (where applicable)
• Travel expenses paid by employer for approved trips with the family
• Employer-provided transportation may be available for certain activities and needs

Security and Safety Requirements

• Criminal record check required (vulnerable sector screening may be requested)
• Willingness to provide professional references from previous employers or families
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding family matters

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Repetitive tasks such as lifting young children, tidying, and preparing meals
• Handling up to 9 kg (20 lbs) for lifting infants, toddlers, or items such as strollers and groceries
• Combination of standing, walking, bending, and sitting on the floor to interact and play with children
• Managing multiple children’s needs simultaneously while maintaining composure and safety
• Attention to detail for safety, hygiene, and daily routines
• Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and some weekends, as agreed with the family

• Excellent oral communication; clear, calm, and age-appropriate with children, and professional with adults

• Sound judgement in daily decision-making around safety, discipline, and routine changes
• Highly organized in managing children’s schedules, activities, meals, and household tasks related to childcare
