Work Setting

  • Sawmill and lumber processing facility
  • Industrial manufacturing environment
  • Northern Ontario forestry region

Responsibilities

  • Assist other processing workers in the operation of various woodworking machines and equipment
  • Feed conveyors, hoppers, saws, and drying machines
  • Load chips, sulphur, and processing materials
  • Remove scrap lumber and wood chips for reprocessing
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas
  • Monitor equipment operation and report any malfunctions or irregularities
  • Sort and grade lumber according to specifications
  • Stack and organize lumber products
  • Perform routine inspections of machinery and equipment
  • Follow all workplace safety protocols and procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Assist with general maintenance tasks as required
  • Operate hand tools and basic equipment
  • Support production flow and meet operational targets
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions
