- Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry
- Medical degree required for physician practice
- Completion of specialty training in Internal Medicine

- 3 years to less than 5 years
- Relevant specialist practice experience in internal medicine preferred

Responsibilities
- Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders
- Prescribe medication and treatment plans
- Examine patients and assess medical conditions thoroughly
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and medical histories
- Interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory results
- Develop evidence-based treatment and management plans
- Manage complex and chronic internal medicine conditions
- Consult with referring physicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Monitor treatment progress and adjust care plans as needed
- Provide preventive care and patient education
- May conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, and preventive or curative methods
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement and clinical best practice initiatives
- Support continuity of care through hybrid in-person and remote consultations
- Ensure compliance with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical support teams to optimize patient care delivery
Credentials
- Specialty residency training
- Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
- Eligibility for licensure in Alberta
- Certification in Internal Medicine through the appropriate medical authority
- Good standing with relevant regulatory and professional bodies

Credentials and Professional Requirements
- Completion of recognized specialty residency in Internal Medicine
- Current or eligible registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta

- Experience with EMR systems and virtual care platforms is an asset
