Job Overview
Verdure Royale Inc. is seeking motivated and reliable Grounds Maintenance Labourers to join our team for the landscaping and grounds care season in Québec City. You will work outdoors on residential, commercial, and public properties, helping to create and maintain attractive, healthy green spaces. From planting flowers and trees to mowing, pruning, and operating lawn and snow equipment, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work in the fresh air, takes pride in a job well done, and wants to gain valuable experience with a professional landscape maintenance company.

Languages; French

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma required

Experience

• Experience is an asset (e.g., landscaping, groundskeeping, farming, construction, or other outdoor labour)
• Employer will provide on-the-job training on equipment use, safety, and company standards

Work Site Environment

• Outdoors, in all weather conditions (sun, rain, wind, cool mornings, hot afternoons)
• Wet/damp conditions at times (after rain, watering, irrigation)
• Dusty and dirty environments typical of grounds and landscape work
• Noisy conditions due to mowers, trimmers, and other power equipment
• May include work around roadsides and public spaces

Work Setting

• Based in Québec, QC and surrounding area
• Work on residential, commercial, and roadside properties as assigned
• Team-based work under the direction of a site supervisor or crew leader

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Spread topsoil, lay sod, plant flowers, grass, shrubs, and trees, and perform other duties to assist with the construction and installation of landscapes and related structures
• Cut grass using power mowers and trimmers; rake, aerate, dethatch, fertilize, and water lawns
• Weed gardens and landscape beds; prune shrubs and trees as directed
• Maintain lawns and grass along roadsides and other assigned areas
• Operate and maintain landscape maintenance equipment such as power mowers, tractors, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, pruning saws, snowblowers, and other related tools
• Spray and dust trees, shrubs, lawns, and gardens as directed to control insects and disease, following safety and application guidelines
• Assist with seasonal tasks such as spring clean-up, fall clean-up, and, where applicable, snow removal and ice control
• Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments, including collecting debris, raking leaves, and disposing of green waste
• Inspect tools and equipment before use; report any damage or maintenance needs to the supervisor
• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Work efficiently as part of a crew to complete daily and weekly schedules on time

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Physically demanding work requiring good overall fitness and stamina
• Repetitive tasks such as raking, shovelling, lifting, pushing, and pulling
• Prolonged standing and walking on uneven terrain, lawns, and slopes
• Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching while planting, weeding, and trimming
• Combination of sitting, standing, and walking depending on tasks and equipment used
• Handling loads up to 23 kg (50 lbs), such as bags of soil, fertilizer, sod rolls, and equipment
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot, humid days and cool, wet periods
• Need to remain attentive to surroundings (traffic, equipment, other workers) for safety
