Job Overview
Jagbir Transport Inc. is seeking safety-focused, professional Long Haul Truck Drivers to join our growing fleet based in Mississauga, Ontario. You will operate late-model tractor-trailers on long-distance routes across Canada and the United States, hauling various types of freight while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. This role is ideal for drivers who are comfortable being on the road for extended periods, want stable full-time miles, competitive pay, and the backing of a reliable carrier with LMIA support options for international applicants.

  • Experience an asset (long-haul, regional, or other professional driving)

Work Setting / Route Type

  • Long-haul trucking operations based out of Mississauga, ON
  • Cross-border routes (Canada–USA) and domestic long-distance routes
  • Solo driving (and/or team as required by specific contracts)
  • Extended time away from home, including overnights and multi-day trips

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions (traffic, weather, border delays) using onboard computers, GPS equipment, or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks (tractor-trailer A train) to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently
  • Load and unload goods as required, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement in accordance with regulations and company policy
  • Tarp and secure loads to protect cargo and ensure safety and security during transport
  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes (as needed for oversize, dangerous goods, or specific jurisdictions)
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems and equipment (tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, fluids, etc.) and oversee all aspects of vehicle condition
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and equipment; identify issues and report defects promptly
  • Perform brake adjustments and basic preventive maintenance within driver’s scope of responsibility
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs when safe and appropriate (e.g., minor fixes, troubleshooting) and coordinate with maintenance/dispatch for further support
  • Set up and operate cold storage units when required, ensuring correct temperatures are maintained and monitored
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch regarding load status, delays, incidents, and route changes
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption in driver logbook and electronic logging devices (ELDs), in full compliance with regulations
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods according to applicable laws and safety standards (if assigned)
  • Complete required documentation accurately, including bills of lading, border paperwork, customs and trans-border documentation
  • Provide professional, courteous service to customers at pickup and delivery locations
  • Follow all company safety policies, road regulations, and Hours of Service rules at all times

Credentials (Certificates, Licences, Memberships, Courses)

  • Valid AZ class licence (or equivalent class as required in province)
  • Valid driver’s licence suitable for cross-border, long-haul operations
  • Air brake endorsement (if not already included in licence class)
  • Dangerous Goods (TDG) training is an asset

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Handling heavy loads when tarping, chaining, or assisting with loading/unloading (within reasonable limits and with proper technique/equipment)
  • Extended periods of sitting while driving, with frequent climbing in and out of the cab and trailer
  • Exposure to all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, ice) while on the road and during loading/unloading
  • Need for sustained concentration and alertness during long driving shifts
  • Physically demanding tasks at times (tarping, chaining, checking tires, minor repairs)
  • Must be able to work independently and manage time effectively on the road
