Job Overview
Lakeland Credit Union is hiring a Personal Banker to support members with everyday banking and credit needs while building long-term relationships based on trust, integrity, and strong financial guidance. In this role, you will open and service accounts, evaluate and process lending applications, complete credit documentation, and recommend practical solutions to help clients reach personal and business financial goals. This position is ideal for someone who is accurate, client-focused, and confident working with lending products such as personal loans and mortgages in a fast-paced financial services environment. Languages: English

Education

  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • Or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant banking, lending, financial services, or customer advisory experience

Work Setting

  • Credit union branch environment in Bonnyville, AB
  • Member-facing role with a mix of advisory, documentation, and administrative responsibilities

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Open new personal and non-personal accounts and support members with account services and updates
  • Provide access and guidance for automated banking machine, telephone banking, and online banking services
  • Interview applicants for loans and gather required documentation
  • Research and evaluate a loan applicant’s financial status, references, credit history, and ability to repay
  • Approve or reject applications within authorized limits, or recommend applications for approval or rejection
  • Complete credit and loan documentation accurately and ensure files meet internal and regulatory requirements
  • Review, maintain, and update credit and loan files to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Submit credit and loan applications to management when required and follow up on outstanding items
  • Promote the sale of credit and loan services and identify opportunities to deepen member relationships
  • Assist clients by proposing solutions to address financial objectives such as debt management, investment planning, and other financial goals (within role scope and policies)
  • Prepare statements on delinquent accounts and support appropriate follow-up processes
  • Network to develop business relations, promote the sale of loans, investments, and other banking services, and attract corporate and individual customers
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect member information in all interactions and documentation
  • Work to meet service standards while maintaining high accuracy under time constraints
