Job Overview
The Gardens at Qualicum Beach is seeking a Registered Nurse (R.N.) to provide high-quality clinical care and leadership in a nursing home/home for the aged. This role is ideal for a confident, resident-focused RN who values dignity, safety, and person-centred care. You will assess resident needs, administer medications and treatments, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and supervise nursing staff to ensure consistent standards of care. Languages: English

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or equivalent as recognized for RN licensure)

Experience

  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience as an RN (long-term care/geriatrics experience is an asset)

Work Setting

  • Nursing home/home for the aged
  • Area of specialization: Geriatrics

Credentials (Required)

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse by provincial or territorial authorities
  • CPR Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Provide nursing care and deliver safe, evidence-informed clinical practice in a long-term care setting
  • Assess residents to identify appropriate nursing interventions and update care plans as needed
  • Address and document symptoms and changes in residents’ conditions, escalating concerns appropriately
  • Dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician and according to policy
  • Operate or monitor medical apparatus or equipment and ensure proper documentation of results
  • Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate resident care in consultation with residents and their families
  • Support resident comfort, quality of life, and dignity while maintaining clinical standards and infection control practices
  • Supervise licensed practical nurses and other nursing staff, including delegation, coaching, and follow-up
  • Participate in shift handovers, clinical reporting, and care conferences as required
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and adherence to facility procedures and regulatory requirements
