Job Overview
Kalala Organic Estate Winery is seeking a Farm Workers Supervisor to coordinate and lead daily operations across organic vineyard, orchard, and crop areas. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can motivate crews, maintain strong productivity and quality standards, and ensure safe, efficient field operations through changing weather and seasonal peaks. You will supervise general farm workers and harvesting labourers, oversee crop-related tasks such as pruning and trimming, maintain accurate work records, support hiring and training, and operate and maintain key equipment such as tractors. If you have practical farm leadership experience and take pride in producing quality crops through organized, safety-first supervision, this is an excellent opportunity to build a stable career in organic agriculture and viticulture in rural British Columbia.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant farm, vineyard, orchard, or crop operations experience, including crew leadership or supervisory responsibilities

Work Site Environment

  • Organic farming and viticulture setting
  • Outdoors in dusty, hot, and noisy conditions
  • Tree and orchard fruit environment
  • Harvest crop activities during peak season

Work Setting

  • Rural area (Westside, BC)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers to meet daily targets and quality standards
  • Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations, including seasonal task planning and execution
  • Weed, prune, and trim trees and plants and ensure crews follow correct techniques for plant health and productivity
  • Maintain work records and logs, including labour allocation, completed tasks, and basic production notes
  • Hire and train staff, including onboarding, field procedures, safe work practices, and quality expectations
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors; organize safe equipment use and basic preventative maintenance checks
  • Monitor work quality in the field and correct issues immediately to reduce waste and maintain standards
  • Support farm safety and bio-security practices, ensuring workers follow procedures and use appropriate PPE
  • Participate in interdisciplinary research and development projects as assigned, including trial blocks, new methods, or process improvements
  • Communicate clearly with management regarding labour needs, scheduling, crop conditions, and operational issues

Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate a team of 5–10 people (crew size may vary by season and workload)

Equipment and Machinery Experience

Transportation / Travel Information

  • Willing to travel as required between farm/vineyard/orchard areas and worksites

  • Basic familiarity with production reporting and farm record systems (asset)
