Job Overview
Cargill Limited is hiring an experienced Wholesale Butcher to support high-volume meat processing and packing operations in Guelph, Ontario. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who can work safely and efficiently in a cold/refrigerated environment while meeting production targets and strict quality standards. You will break down carcasses, remove bones, trim and prepare standard cuts, and complete special orders with consistent accuracy. Languages: English

Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required

Experience

  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in wholesale butchery, meat cutting, meat processing, or a similar production environment

Work Site Environment

  • Cold/refrigerated conditions
  • Exposure to odours typical of meat processing facilities

Work Setting

  • Meat processing and/or packing plant/establishment

Equipment and Machinery Experience

  • Band saw
  • Manual cutting utensils (knives and related tools)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Cut carcasses, sides, and quarters according to production specifications and safety procedures
  • Cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat to meet quality and yield requirements
  • Remove bones from meat using correct techniques to minimize waste and maintain product integrity
  • Prepare special orders accurately, including specific trims, portioning, and packaging requirements
  • Maintain consistent product quality by checking cut specifications and correcting defects when required
  • Handle meat safely and hygienically, following food safety, sanitation, and contamination prevention standards
  • Work effectively on a fast-paced production line while maintaining accuracy and safe tool handling
  • Keep work area clean and organized; follow cleaning and sanitation routines for tools and immediate work stations
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or product irregularities to supervisors promptly
  • Follow plant policies related to PPE, safe lifting, and safe operation around cutting equipment
