Job Overview
Booungee (Owl of Minerva on Bloor) is hiring an Assistant Restaurant Manager to support high-volume evening and late-night operations in Toronto. This role is ideal for a strong floor leader who can keep service smooth during rush periods, manage labour and costs, train and supervise staff, and ensure food safety and guest satisfaction at all times. You will help run day-to-day operations, monitor performance and revenues, maintain inventory and product costing, and resolve customer concerns professionally. If you are organized, calm under pressure, and ready to lead by example in a fast-paced restaurant environment, this is a great opportunity for stable, permanent full-time work with LMIA support available for eligible international candidates.

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

  • 2 years to less than 3 years of restaurant leadership experience (assistant manager, shift supervisor, floor supervisor, or similar)
  • Experience in high-volume or late-night service environments is an asset

Credentials (Required)

  • Smart Serve
  • Safe Food Handling certificate

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Evaluate daily operations and support the Manager in maintaining service, quality, and cleanliness standards
  • Plan and organize daily operations, including floor coverage, section assignments, and shift priorities
  • Set staff work schedules and ensure appropriate staffing for peak periods and late-night shifts
  • Supervise staff and monitor performance; coach in real time to improve speed, accuracy, and hospitality
  • Train staff on service standards, safe food handling, Smart Serve requirements, and workplace procedures
  • Monitor revenues to determine labour cost and help control labour to meet targets
  • Cost products and services and support menu/item costing accuracy and waste reduction
  • Organize and maintain inventory, including ordering support, receiving, rotation, and stock counts
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed, including sanitation, food safety, and safe workplace practices
  • Provide customer service leadership by maintaining a visible presence on the floor and supporting staff with guest needs
  • Address customers’ complaints or concerns promptly and professionally, escalating when required and documenting outcomes
  • Assist with end-of-shift responsibilities such as cash handling support, closing routines, and basic reporting as assigned
  • Maintain strong communication between front-of-house and back-of-house to keep service coordinated and efficient
