Job Overview
Mudge Family Farms Ltd. is hiring Seasonal Farm Workers to support tobacco and general crop operations in Otterville, Ontario. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor, hands-on work and can maintain speed and quality while performing repetitive tasks in all weather conditions. You will assist with planting, cultivating, irrigating, weeding, hoeing between rows, cleaning crops, and harvesting, as well as greenhouse cleaning and field maintenance. You may also support grading fruits and vegetables by quality and size and operate farm equipment such as tractors and farm trucks when assigned. Experience is an asset, but motivated workers with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. Piece work opportunities may be available depending on task assignments and production needs.

Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required

Experience

Experience is an asset (tobacco farming, field crops, harvesting, greenhouse work, grading/packing, equipment operation)
On-the-job training may be provided for farm procedures and safety expectations

Work Site Environment

Outdoors in all weather conditions
Wet/damp conditions and odours typical of farm work
Dusty, hot, and noisy environments
Work may include in/on water conditions depending on irrigation and field requirements

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops according to farm schedules and instructions
Apply hoeing techniques between rows to support crop growth and reduce weed pressure
Perform weeding and general crop maintenance throughout the season
Clean the crops and maintain rows to support plant health and quality
Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts as required by crop stage and farm standards
Harvest crops efficiently while maintaining product quality and careful handling
Clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas to keep the farm safe and organized
Perform greenhouse cleaning and maintain tidy work areas as assigned
Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, colour, and volume to meet market standards
Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment as assigned, following safe procedures
Report crop issues, equipment concerns, or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly

Work under pressure during planting and harvest windows
Physically demanding work with handling heavy loads
Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail for harvesting and grading
Standing for extended periods; frequent walking and a combination of sitting/standing/walking depending on tasks
Ability to work safely in wet, hot, dusty, and noisy conditions
