Job Overview
American Iron & Metal is hiring an experienced Millwright to support mechanical assembly, installation, and preventive maintenance of industrial machinery in Hamilton, Ontario. This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who can read drawings and specifications, troubleshoot mechanical issues, work safely with hoisting and lifting equipment, and deliver reliable repairs that keep operations running efficiently. You will assemble and install equipment, perform routine maintenance, clean and lubricate components, and support safe, organized maintenance practices in a fast-moving industrial environment. Education

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Or equivalent experience

Experience

• 3 years to less than 5 years of relevant millwright/mechanical maintenance experience in industrial settings

Work Setting

• Industrial maintenance environment supporting production and heavy equipment operations
• Shift-based work with overtime during shutdowns, breakdowns, or peak maintenance periods

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements and installation/repair procedures
• Assemble mechanical equipment, ensuring correct alignment, fit, and safe operation
• Install machinery and equipment, including positioning, leveling, anchoring, and commissioning support
• Perform routine maintenance work on machinery to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work on mechanical systems and components
• Operate hoisting and lifting equipment safely to move, position, and secure heavy parts and machinery
• Support troubleshooting of mechanical issues and implement corrective actions within scope
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding completed work, parts needs, and equipment condition

• Strong attention to detail required for safe assembly, alignment, and maintenance quality
• Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination for precision work and safe tool use
• Ability to work in a hands-on industrial environment with shifting priorities and deadlines
• Comfort working as part of a maintenance team during scheduled shutdowns and urgent repairs
