Job Overview
ZandgateFarms Inc is hiring a Pork Production Technician to support daily hog and pig farming operations in the Highgate/Ridgetown area of Ontario. This role is ideal for someone with livestock experience who is comfortable working in a barn environment and is committed to animal welfare, cleanliness, and bio-security. You will monitor swine health, support farrowing and piglet care tasks, feed and tend animals, maintain clean pens and barns, manage basic barn environment controls, and keep accurate records and logs. If you are reliable, quick to learn, and able to work independently while meeting time-sensitive routines, this is an excellent opportunity for permanent, full-time work with overtime availability and LMIA support for eligible international candidates.

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience in hog/pig farming, livestock care, barn operations, or similar work

Work Site Environment

Hog and pig farming
Dusty, noisy, dirty conditions with livestock odours
All weather conditions (some duties may involve outdoor movement and variable temperatures)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Monitor animal health and behaviour, identify concerns early, and report issues promptly
Treat livestock health issues as directed and within farm protocols
Perform pig littering and piglet care activities, including clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identifying piglets, and castration
Feed and tend animals according to schedules and barn procedures
Set and monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns, pens, and other livestock areas as required
Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed consistently to reduce disease risk and protect herd health
Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens and maintain sanitation standards throughout the facility
Maintain work records and logs, including observations, treatments, production notes, and daily tasks completed
Perform general farm duties as required to support smooth barn operations and team needs

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

Ability to work independently and complete routine tasks consistently
Work under pressure during time-sensitive periods (farrowing, treatments, cleaning cycles)
Physically demanding work with handling heavy loads and repetitive duties
Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
Comfort working in a barn environment with dust, odours, and noise
